As always, even though I’m up to my eyeballs in library books I couldn’t resist borrowing a few more. To no one’s surprise I’m looking to apply these to as many reading challenges as possible. Over the last month or so that tower of library books by my reading chair has only grown taller. Therefore, I better knuckle down and do some reading. Too many books and not enough time. Story of my life!
- Helsinki Blood by James Thompson (2013)- This promising piece of Nordic Noir by an American author who’s lived in Finland for a dozen years might be the perfect novel for both the European Reading Challenge and Cloak and Dagger Reading Challenge.
- The Return of Great Powers: Russia, China, and the Next World War by Jim Sciutto (2024) – After hearing author Sciutto interviewed a few months ago on the Deep State Radio podcast I’ve been wanting to read his latest book. Now I have the chance.
- The Tea Planter’s Wife by Dinah Jefferies (2016) – For whatever reason or reasons, I’ve been itching to read this novel after I spotted it in the new books section at the public library eight years ago. Set on the island of Ceylon during the 1920s I’ll be reading this one for the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge.
Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted Claire from The Captive Reader and Sharlene from Real Life Reading to encourage bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write-up your post, steal the Library Loot icon and link your post using the Mr. Linky on Sharlene’s Blog.
The Tea Planter’s LIfe reminds me of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See that was so good.
